History of Red Fort

The Red Fort was worked by none other than the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan to fill in as the royal residence fortress for his capital Shahjahanabad. He charged the development of the stronghold by the River Yamuna when he chose to move his cash-flow to Delhi from Agra. The development, which began in 1638, took more than 8 years to finish. The structure was initially named Qila-I-Mubarak, which signifies 'the Blessed Fort'. During its history of more than three centuries, the fortress saw numerous tenants, including Aurangzeb, Jahandar Shah, Muhammad Shah, and Bahadur Shah II, among others.
